Fireweed Tea // Hand Rolled & Fermented
Fireweed Tea // Hand Rolled & Fermented
Fireweed (also known as Ivan Chai or Rosebay Willowherb) is among the first sign of life to appear after a wildfire, quickly blanketing meadows and forest floors, with a sea of magenta flowers. Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, Fireweed says “I’m here, hope is not lost, new life is emerging...”
Fireweed is a remedy of restoration. When life destroys us, it can help us to start over, improving energy (both physical & emotional) from shock or trauma.
On a physical level, Fireweed tea has a smooth, sweet floral flavour that provides numerous health benefits. It is naturally caffeine, oxalic & uric acid free, making it enjoyable to sip, at any time of the day. It has well noted anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and is rich in various vitamins and minerals, notably vitamins A & C. It also has mild sedative properties, helping one to relax, as well as offering healing for an array of digestive complaints. First Nation peoples of Canada drank Fireweed tea for both gastro-intestinal & bronchial problems. The Grandmothers taught that Fireweed helps to heal your digestive system (i.e. ulcers, gastritis, colitis and intestinal parasites have all been treated with Fireweed). It also has antispasmodic properties, making it useful for asthma and coughs.
Our Fireweed is wildcrafted in Donegal, Ireland and hand-processed in small batches. We hand-roll the young leaves, ferment them and dry them during the summer months, just before the plant has started flowering.
Ingredients: Wild-Crafted Fireweed Leaves (Chamaenerion angustifolium)
