Sea Spaghetti (Himanthalia elongata) is a native brown seaweed that grows on the lower-middle shore in long strands along the wild Atlantic coast of Ireland.
It is a highly nutritious sea delicacy packed with nutrients such as protein, Vit C, iron, magnesium and calcium and is a wonderful addition to any pasta dish (my personal favourite is to re-hydrate it, marinate in lemon juice (approx. 10 mins), cook/simmer (10 mins), drain and mix with fresh basil pesto).
Sea Spaghetti can also be added to meat or vegetable stews or salad dishes and can be marinated or pickled.
To Cook: Boil in the same way as spaghetti pasta, until al dente (10mins approx).
Ingredients: Dried wild Irish Sea Spaghetti (Himanthalia elongata). Harvested in Spring in Donegal, Ireland for peak taste.
