With a permeating symphony of sunshine and spicy notes of wild rose. This solid perfume was created using an ancient French technique called "enfleurage".
Enfleurage is a process that uses odorless fats, that are solid at room temperature, to capture the scent or "essence" of a flower. It is a very old technique of extracting the aromatic oils from flowers that was popularized in France during the 19th century. It works on the simple principle that fats dissolve essential oils and thereby absorb their aromas.
This lovely enfleurage was created using wild Rosa rugosa and Rosa pimpinellifolia blossoms, which were harvested from my cottage garden and along the Atlantic coast of Ireland. Traditionally, the fat used in enfleurage comes from animals and is later combined with alcohol. As a modern alternative, we have used coconut oil. Each hand-picked, wild rose was infused in a base of organic coconut oil by placing a layer of fresh flowers each day, for 10 days, on top of the solid oil.
The essence of Rose is empathy and love. It helps soften and purify the heart. This truly beautiful & healing flower, is a balm for the soul.
Ingredients: Wild Beach Rose (Rosa rugosa), Wild Burnet Rose (Rosa pimpinellifolia), Organic Coconut Oil (Cocos Nucifera), Organic Beeswax.
*Comes in a 20ml (pocket size) clear glass jar with a tin screw top lid. As it is a solid perfume, do not expose to high temperatures. Best kept indoors or in the fridge, on warmer days.
